Charlotte Tomlinson
Dance Artist | Main Company Tutor


Charlotte is a dance artist and educator in healthy dance practice. She is Artistic Director of SideKick Dance and a community dance leader working with disabled and older dancers. She runs Showtime Dance which is a dance group for mature movers who focus on Jazz, Ballet and Musical theatre. With the SideKick Dance team, Charlotte produced the Bloom Inclusive Dance Festivalin 2017/2018/2019 which provided hundreds of people each year with the opportunity to dance and perform.

Charlotte has always had a strong interest in inclusive practice. She studied dance at Roehampton University (2002-2005) and focussed her dissertation on the accessibility of dance for young disabled people. Following this she completed her MSc Dance Science at Trinity Laban (2005-2006) before becoming a Lecturer in Dance at Chichester College and then Leicester College. As a performer Charlotte danced with 4Motion Dance Theatre and Foot in Hand Dance Company.

Charlotte is Co-author of Safe Dance Practice: An Applied Dance Science Perspective (2015). She has presented at numerous events and conferences as well as being a guest lecturer at various dance institutions and Universities. She is an Associate of Safe in Dance International (SiDI) as well as a Course Provider and Quality Reviewer. Charlotte also works with Ticta First Aid to deliver be-spoke first aid training within the performing arts and is a listed Healthier Dancer Speaker with One dance UK.  

Working with We are Epic, Charlotte started ID Dance, a dance development project for all bodies and minds to train and create work for performance. In 2017 Charlotte was winner of the One Dance UK Inspirational Community Dance Practitioner Award. As well as being an experienced dance artist and leader, Charlotte has been working in the fitness industry since 2007 and is a fully qualified Yoga teacher.
