Lexy Garner
Dance Artist | Main Company Tutor

Lexy trained in Contemporary Dance, graduating with a first-class (Hons) from Coventry University and Tartu University’s Viljandi Cultural Academy in 2020, with an International Enhancement Year and the Cecilia McFarlane Tutor Prize. Remaining in Coventry, Lexy worked as company artist for Ascension Dance Company, which included external teaching, performance and creative opportunities with organisations such as FABRIC, Critical Mass and Shakespeare’s Birthplace Trust. To develop her own practice, Lexy was elected to be part of PDSW’s Young Choreographer’s 2022-2023 cohort mentored by Joseph Toonga and is currently under the mentorship of Anna Watkins and Alleyne Dance.

For Lexy, movement is a universal language that connects people and disciplines, that allows us to be powerful and bold, both as individuals and as a unity. It’s about creating opportunities for people to feel a part of a dance community and encouraging joy and reward through self-expression. That means, at the core, Lexy drives to create spaces that are welcoming for everyone. These spaces are celebrated for being powerful, kind, collaborative and genuine through a contemporary dance context.
