49 Trees is a new outdoor duet by Anjali Dance Company. The work is inspired by the Sycamore Gap Tree, its felling and the powerful way it’s story continues to bring people together across the UK and beyond.
Led by a majority-collective of disabled and neurodivergent creatives, 49 Trees explores how the tree is no longer standing, yet its story lives on.
Through dance and striking visual imagery, the work reflects on loss, change, connection and renewal. It invites audiences to think about how something that has been lost can still bring people together, inspire new growth and create new possibilities.
49 Trees is a powerful outdoor performance that invites audiences of all ages to reflect, connect and reimagine our relationship with the natural world.
We are grateful for support from Arts Council England, The Leche Trust, Lakeside Arts, FABRIC, 101 Outdoor Arts, The Box at FarGo Village and Wild Rumpus.
